Рак груді у чоловіків є рідкісним захворюванням, він становить менше 1 % всіх випадків раку груді та менше 1 % всіх випадків раку в чоловіків. Річна захворюваність оцінюється як приблизно 1 випадок на 100 тис. чоловіків у світі, а пожиттєвий ризик є меншим, ніж 1 випадок на 1000 чоловіків. Частота захворюваності лінійно та стабільно наростає зі збільшенням віку чоловіка, середній вік хворого при первинній діагностиці складає 60–70 років. Фактори ризику, пов’язані з раком груді у чоловіків, включають вік, спадкові генетичні особливості, включно з синдромом Кляйнфельтера та мутацією гена BRCA2, вплив радіації, високі рівні естрогенів та цироз печінки як результат надмірного вживання алкоголю. Однак останній можливий чинник залишається дискутабельним. Окремі дослідження припускають, що гінекомастію також можна розглядати як можливий фактор ризику. В статті наведено результати власних спостережень клінічного випадку раку груді в чоловіка.
